The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is closely connected to Hezbollah, published the details of a proposal reportedly approved by Israel today (Wednesday). According to the report, the deal will take place in three stages.
In the first phase, which will span 40 days, Hamas will release at least 33 hostages who are still alive: female civilians, soldiers and children under the age of 19, adults over the age of 50, the wounded and the sick. Accordingly, 20 terrorists will be released in return for each civilian hostage. An additional 40 will be released in exchange for each female soldier (of which 20 were sentenced to life imprisonment and 20 were sentenced to a maximum of 10 years).
At the same time, a ceasefire will be implemented between Israel and the Hamas, and IDF forces will be forced to retreat eastward except for the Wadi Gaza area.
In addition, military flights for intelligence gathering purposes will be suspended for eight hours during the day. Also, on the seventh day of the deal, Gazans will be able to return to their homes. About two weeks after the accord is implemented, terrorists injured during the fighting will be able to pass through the Rafah Crossing for medical treatment.
IDF withdrawal and restoration of Gaza
In the second phase, which will last for about 42 days, all male hostages who are still alive will be returned to Israel in exchange for a number of prisoners to be agreed upon by both sides. The IDF will withdraw from the entire Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of civilian buildings, including infrastructure destroyed during the fighting, will begin.
Final phase
In the final phase, all the bodies of hostages killed by Hamas as well as Hamas terrorists will be returned. The restoration of Gaza will span five years, during which Hamas will not be able to restore its military infrastructure.
