After pausing its operations in the Gaza Strip following a lethal IDF attack, which the IDF says was based on mistaken identity, World Central Kitchen (WCK) announced yesterday (Sunday) that it was now resuming operations.
In a statement, WCK said that given what it calls the "dire" humanitarian situation in the Strip, it was not only continuing operations but also looking at all possible avenues for providing food, including opening a new production kitchen in the central Strip named after one of the WCK workers killed in the attack.
Regarding the IDF strike itself, WCK said "The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have apologized for the attack, calling it a “grave mistake” and says they have changed their rules of operation. While we have no concrete assurances, we continue to seek answers and advocate for change with the goal of better protecting WCK and all NGO workers serving selflessly in the worst humanitarian conditions. Our demand for an impartial and international investigation remains."
