Israel-Gaza War, Hostage Deal

IDF Chief of Staff: A hostage deal will only come from stronger pressure, and we will press as much as we need to

Halevi said the IDF was constantly making progress: "Another battalion dismantled, another commander killed, more destroyed infrastructure - this is the way to bring about pressure which ultimately frees the hostages."

IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi visited the forces in Khan Yunis today (Wednesday) and conducted a situational assessment with other senior officers.

There, he said that "we are pressuring also to deepen the achievement, and we are also pressuring to bring about movement in negotiations, to bring an agreement to release hostages, this is a supreme mission, very important. It will come only from more pressure and we will press more strongly, as much as we need to. We will press stronger, you're doing this great."

He then laid out the IDF's strategy: "Another battalion dismantled, another commander killed, more destroyed infrastructure - this is the way to bring about pressure which ultimately frees the hostages."
