Defense Ministry ramps up renovations of city shelters in south and north

Already underway in 2023, the Defense Ministry stated that it was speeding up its efforts to renovate hundreds of shelters for civilians in the north and south.

The Defense Ministry has been ramping up its efforts to renovate hundreds of shelters in cities in the north of south since the outbreak of the war.

The Ministry stated that it was placing a particular emphasis on the cities of Ashkelon, Maalot, Kiryat Shmonah, and Nahariyah, working with the Northern Shield civil defense program as well as local authorities.

The Northern Shield program has already installed or renovated hundreds of safe rooms and shelters since at least 2021.
