Bank Leumi has frozen UNRWA's bank account in Israel following the decision of the US State Department to temporarily suspend funding for the organization, according to reporting by Calcalist.

The original decision by the United States and several other countries to suspend funding to UNRWA came due to Israeli revelations that a number of UNRWA employees took part in the massacre and mass kidnapping committed by Hamas and affiliated groups in Israel on October 7.

Israel also provided evidence showing that somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 of UNRWA's employees had "significant" terror ties.
