The IDF's "Atlantis Plan" For Flooding Hamas Tunnels Now Operational

The IDF announced today that it has now put a system for flooding tunnels with water, known as the "Atlantis Plan," after extensive staff work and allowing the engineering capacity needed to mature.

Released for publication: The IDF's system for flooding tunnels with high capacity water pumping, which they call "Operation Atlantis," is now operational, according to Channel 12 reporter Amit Segal.

According to the IDF statement, the system was developed based on extensive staff work and engineering development, and will be deployed only in such a way as to not harm the groundwater in the area and per tactical needs.

According to a source speaking with Ynet military correspondent Yoav Zitun, "This tool is one of tool in the IDF and defense establishment toolbox developed in recent years to take care of Hamas infrastructures in 'Lower Gaza'...This tool is a significant engineering and technological breakthrough in dealing with the underground challenge."
