The CNN network asked the IDF Spokesperson to address claims of Gazan civilians regarding the destruction IDF activity is causing in the cemetery of southern Khan Yunis. In an official response to the American network, the IDF Spokesperson confirmed that the army is carrying out operations searching for the bodies of hostages in Gazan cemeteries.

Per the report on Kann News, the IDF Spokesperson’s response reads:

“The IDF is carrying out search and rescue operations, including the bodies of hostages in cemeteries in the Strip. The IDF is committed to completing the mission of rescuing hostages, and finding and returning the bodies being held in Gaza.

“The IDF carries out search and rescue operations following specific intelligence information coming in regarding the possible presence of bodies in those places. The actions of identifying the bodies is done safely, while preserving the dignity of the body, and bodies which are not identified as those of hostages are returned with dignity.

“Were it not for the reckless decision of Hamas to kidnap men, women, and children, there would be no need of such search operations.”
