IDF: Hamas Leader Sinwar Uses Children as Lookouts and Scouts

According to IDF sources, Hamas is making use of civilians - including women and children - to serve as lookouts and informants on IDF movements and operations, including in closed military zones.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is using unarmed civilians - including the elderly, women with baby carriages, and even young children - to serve as the eyes and ears of Hamas' mostly underground terror army in the Gaza Strip, according to IDF sources speaking to Walla News military correspondent Amir Bohbot.

According to Bohbot's reporting, these civilians either view IDF activity from a distance on streets and rooftops or even enter into IDF areas, equipped with a walkie talkie or prepared to run and inform Hamas forces underground about IDF movements.

The IDF believes that this is how Hamas commanders are able to communicate with one another despite the intense battlefield and frequent efforts to demolish parts of their tunnel and communications network.

One officer said of such efforts that "you know the kid came to observe (IDF movements), you know that he's part of a bigger campaign, but in the end he's a child and we as commanders are in a dilemma...so we don't shoot at children in any situation but Hamas is definitely putting us in a very complex dilemma."

The officer ended on an optimistic note that "In the end it will happen. We will crack what we need. We need a lot of patience."

It works for them - their terrorists are young... children are eager to please and unaware of dangers and risks so they make good trainees. This is a tough battle and we must not give up
