The government approved today (Sunday) the outline for the multi-year strategic plan for the rehabilitation and development of the 'HaTkuma' region and its population, with the aim of anchoring the commitment of the Israeli government through a budget and tools that will enable the strengthening of the region for the authorities, communities, families, residents and the entire State of Israel.

The plan, which was drawn up in collaboration with the local authorities and the settlements of the region, will lead to the renewal and development of a safe and sustainable region with significant demographic growth, which is a thriving center of attraction and a magnet for economic resilience, quality education, investments, advanced and innovative agriculture.

The framework of the plan constitutes an infrastructure and a broad budget framework for 5 years, 2024-2028, amounting to 18 billion shekels which will lead to the process of restoring the area in the most optimal way along with anchoring unique planning and execution mechanisms that enable 'green routes'.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after approving the outline: "We are building and rehabilitating our settlements. In the Gaza Strip Envelope, at the beginning of the war, we established the Tkuma Administration. We transferred huge budgets to restore the settlements and also to ensure that no one is left behind.

"The wheat was sown in the kibbutzim in the Gaza Strip Envelope - and this wheat will grow," he concluded.

The Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, Yossi Shelley, said: "The residents of the Gaza Strip envelope have suffered an unbearable trauma and we as a country are obligated to take care of them. We must invest the maximum resources in order to treat, restore and flourish the Gaza Strip envelope so that it will be an example to the countries of the entire world and to anchor the uniqueness of the area and define it as a national focus area."
