The 61st day of the war in Gaza. IDF spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagari made a statement to the media this evening (Wednesday) in which he referred to all the arenas in which Israel is at war.
In his words, Hagari said that "the IDF commando division launched a combined attack on Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Our forces crown the area and carry out raids on Hamas terrorists, using accurate information in real time.
"At the same time as the fighting in the south of the Gaza Strip," he said, "the forces continue to deepen the maneuvering in the north of the Gaza Strip. In the last 48 hours, the 3 divisions have been fighting with great intensity against the terrorists. In Jabaliya, Shajaiya and Khan Yunis, we broke through the Hamas defense lines, the terrorists are coming out from underground and they fight against our forces in battles, and they win with their upper hand."
The Houthis is a global problem and it is being treated
The IDF spokesman also referred to the alarm that was issued today in Eilat and said that "the air defense fighters intercepted a surface-to-surface missile that was launched in the Red Sea area using the arrow and iron dome systems. There was no danger to the city of Eilat, and the threat was removed in the Red Sea. This terrorist activity belongs to the Houthis, it is a regional terrorism carried out with the direction, financing and mission of Iran. This is a global problem, and we understand from our conversations with the American Central Command that task forces are already being established in the Red Sea to deal with the problem."
Hagari mentioned the documentation in which a piece of shrapnel was seen falling some time after the end of a red alert siren and said: "Yesterday on the home front we received another reminder of the importance of following the instructions. You have to wait in the protected area 10 minutes after the alarm and wait until all the fragments of the interception do not endanger the citizens."
138 kidnapped in Gaza - our fighters are fighting to return them all
"138 abductees are still being held in Gaza, we have a moral obligation to do everything to return them all. At this time our fighters are fighting valiantly to return them all."
When asked by reporters about Netanyahu's announcement regarding the encirclement of Yahya Sinwar's house, he said, "Sinwar's house is the Khan Yunis area, there are terrorist infrastructures there, Sinwar is not above ground and I do not want to detail what we know, these are not things that belong in the media. In the end, this goal is a joint effort by the IDF and the Shin Bet to locate him and the leadership and kill them."
Regarding the cabinet's discussion on increasing aid to Gaza, he said: "I don't know what the cabinet will approve, but the fuel entering the Gaza Strip is intended to enable the operational effort. Basically, the fact that the desalination plants work with fuel, and the fact that the trucks will be able to bring food and water and medicine to the citizens, we can provide humanitarian aid to civilians, to separate them from the terrorists and attack terrorism in a war that will be long. The fight against terrorism will not end in a few days, and to make this possible a humanitarian effort must be conducted at the same time."
