The next generation. Chief of Staff Major General Herzi Halevi arrived today (Wednesday) to meet the new recruits for the Nahal and Kfir brigades at the recruiting office in Tel HaShomer.
In a conversation with the recruits, the Chief of Staff said: "You are enlisting in the IDF in the midst of a war that will continue for a long time, and we are also today in a very, very important battle. You wear uniforms on a day when the meaning of defending the country, defending the home, is much, much greater."
The Chief of Staff described the situation and said that "the two brigades are now, as we speak, fighting in Gaza. Complex fighting, a built-up area, the Kfir Brigade entered from the eastern part of the Strip, and is fighting towards the west, the Nahal Brigade entered from the northern part and is now fighting to the east, these two brigades in very dense, very challenging areas."
"Fighters make decisions there, fight the enemy, hurt him, protect each other, try to locate hostages, rescue hostages," he said, "Listen, these are truly missions of the highest value level imaginable. And I see these two brigades, excellent commanders, excellent fighters, meeting the tasks in an exceptional way. In order for this to continue going forward, we need continuity, you are the continuity.
"You will connect with people and this thing creates a very, very large joint force, even in Gaza it cannot be stopped, a group of fighters who are glued to each other - no enemy can stop this thing. And you will be like that, and it will be impossible to stop you," the Chief of Staff concluded.
