Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich hosted a discussion this morning (Sunday) regarding the Gaza Perimeter and the civilians living there. During the discussion, many numbers regarding the state of Gaza Perimeter residents during the last two months were presented, with an emphasis on settlements 4-7 km away from the Gaza Stirp border fence.

The discussion included Rear Command commander Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo, National Emergency Authority Head Yoam Landau, Tekumah Administration head Moshe Edri, Finance Minister Director-General Shlomi Heisler, Civilian Command and Control head Tal Beskes, Eshkol Council head Gadi Yarkoni, Sdot Hanegev Council head Tami Aidan, Ashkelon Beach Council head Itamar Ravivo, Acting Sha’ar Hanegev Council head Yossi Keren, Finance Ministry senior officials and others.

“The goal of the war is the destruction of Hamas and the collapse of its governmental capabilities. The war is continuing in order to achieve this goal with maximum speed,” Smotrich said. “On this basis, we are encouraging a return to routine where possible, this out of the necessary sensitivity, the needed blanket, and an open and transparent dialogue with residents and communities. A return to routine is part of the victory picture and we will encourage it wherever possible. We will continue to join hands and work jointly to achieve the goals of the war and restore the Tekumah region.”
