Israel-Gaza War, Shifa Hospital

IDF Confirms Shifa Hospital Director Arrested

The IDF said this was due to substantial evidence showing the use of the hospital under his direct control as a terror base.

Following reports this morning (Thursday) that the Director of Shifa Hospital had been arrested by the IDF trying to flee to the southern Gaza Strip, the IDF and Shin Bet Spokespersons both confirm: “The hospital director was arrested, in light of the many pieces of evidence of the hospital activities as a terror base.”

The IDF and Shin Bet Spokespersons stated that “the Director of the Shifa Hospital was arrested and sent to Shin Bet interrogation after many pieces of evidence were found showing the hospital under his direct administration served as a command post of the Hamas terror organization. The Hamas terror organization used many resources, including electricity, in order to maintain the tunneling system it built underneath the hospital. In addition, Hamas stored many weapons inside and around the hospital.”

“Beyond this, after the massacre committed by the Hamas terror organization on October 7, the organization used the hospital as a shelter for its terrorists and even took Israeli hostages taken on the day of the massacre there. A pathological report confirmed that the murder of Corporal Noah Marziano occurred in the hospital area. The hospital under his management witnessed extensive terror activity by the Hamas terror organization. A decision regarding his continued detention will be made in accordance with the findings of the investigation and the involvement of the hospital director in terror activity.”

IDF Operates in the Shifa Hospital Area, Exposing Evidence of Terrorism

Over the last week, IDF forces have continued to operate in and around the hospital. The IDF Spokesperson reported that the location had served the Nukhba forces which carried out the massacre in the south, even bringing some of the hostages there, who were held in the hospital basements in the first day of the war.

Yesterday, the IDF revealed the continuation of the terror tunnels, dozens of meters of an extensive network, which also goes underneath the Qatari building in the hospital, and which contained war rooms, hiding places, and rest areas for members of the Hamas terror organization, as well as two additional tunnel shafts exposed near the hospital at the Shin Bet’s direction.

In addition, forces belonging to the 7th Brigade searching the tunnel system found weapons and findings which may attest to the prior presence of hostages.
