Rear Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo delivered a statement this evening (Sunday) to the press, addressing the fighting at the front and the state of the rear throughout the country.

Milo said that “We have completed the first stage of the war – building up the force, and now we are moving onto the second stage – the stage of offense. We received the war aims from the political leadership – the goals are clear, we will meet them. And to meet them the war will be long, weeks and months. The citizens’ behavior is a marvel. Thanks to this behavior we see few injuries and this saves lives.”

“During the entire fighting, every day, we do a situational assessment – looking at the intentions of the enemy, the assessments of the enemy, and based on this we lay down the instructions. We want to arrive at an emergency routine in war – in some places we are conducting policy under protection. That’s how it is on the educational subject, for instance. On the one hand to provide security to our children and on the other hand to allow the economy to be opened. A long war requires the economy to go back to operating.”

Milo also addressed the question of personal security, saying: “I know personal security was harmed on 7.10. Therefore, tens of thousands of soldiers of Rear Command are spread out throughout the civilian area – to strengthen personal safety and resilience. We are there, we will protect you and secure the children and the civilians.” He also said that “in a long war, it’s important for us to maintain schooling without limits because schools influence the whole economy.”

He also addressed issues with the Rear Command app: “I am aware of problems with the Rear Command app – we are checking and fixing it. But the importance of the app is to warn every citizen even where there is no siren and even in open area. We in Rear (Command) will provide the strength to the IDF so that it wins.”
