"House" star Hugh Laurie joins Tehran

House MD star Hugh Laurie joins Israeli spy series 'Tehran' (and we can't wait!)

With its explosive mix of star power, high-stakes drama, and ripped-from-the-headlines tension, "Tehran" Season 3 is poised to be the most electrifying chapter yet in this international phenomenon.

The acclaimed Israeli spy series "Tehran" is set to return with its most gripping season yet, as House star Hugh Laurie joins the Emmy-winning thriller. The show's third season, premiering December 9 on Israel's KAN network, tackles the explosive subject of Iran's nuclear program.

Following the stellar addition of Glenn Close in season two, Laurie steps into the complex world of international espionage as a South African nuclear inspector. The casting announcement has already generated significant buzz among Israeli viewers, who've taken to social media to express their excitement.

"We're pushing every boundary this season," series creator Dana Eden revealed in a thrilling announcement. "The suspense, the action, the intrigue – everything is amplified." At the heart of the storm, fan-favorite Niv Sultan returns as Tamar Rabinyan, the fearless Mossad operative whose past choices have put her in the crosshairs of both friends and enemies.

The show has earned a reputation for its eerily prescient plotlines, with previous seasons' fiction becoming today's headlines. Season 3 promises to be no different, thrusting viewers into a heart-stopping game of cat and mouse as Rabinyan finds herself trapped in Tehran, hunted by both Mossad and Iranian forces in what Eden calls a "crazy rollercoaster" of espionage and survival.

Beloved Israeli actor Sasson Gabbai transforms into an action powerhouse as a hardened Mossad agent. The ensemble cast grows even stronger with international talents Bahar Pars and Phoenix Raei joining returning stars Shaun Toub and Shila Ommi.

The show, which wrapped filming in Greece last summer, has gained attention for its eerily prophetic storylines. Previous seasons featured plot points that later materialized in real-world events, including Mossad operations that mirror recent headlines.

While Israeli audiences prepare for the December premiere, international viewers face an uncertain wait. Apple TV+, which co-produces the series, has yet to announce a global release date following delays caused by the October 7 attacks and ongoing regional tensions.

Kann network cheekily promoted the return with a viral marketing campaign, using Kim Kardashian's voice asking viewers, "Did you miss us, because we missed you!"

Based on early reactions, the answer is a resounding yes.
