Prime Minister of Qatar Muhammad al-Thani said his country is "reconsidering" its role as a mediator between Israel and Hamas. Al-Thani claimed that, "there are certain politicians who are taking advantage of us for their own narrow and private interests."

According to al-Thani, "We had extensive contacts with Iran and the US to contain any escalation. We hear from all the parties in the region that they do not want war, and the best way to reduce the escalation is to stop the war in Gaza."

He also noted that, "the negotiations are in a sensitive situation now." We will make the appropriate decision regarding mediation at the appropriate time."
