Israel-Gaza War, Northern Front

Northern Residents and Evacuees Suffering With Lost Livelihoods and Ruined Buildings

While the country's eyes remain fixed on the south, the border skirmishes in the north with Hezbollah are taking their toll on civilian property and livelihoods - and residents are getting more worried.

As border skirmishes continue in the north, residents are increasingly worried not only for their lives but their livelihoods, as many buildings and homes have been destroyed and many businesses shut down for the duration of the war, according to a Globes report.

Among the many problems residents face is that, as opposed to the residents of the south who expect to return once the IDF deals effectively enough with Hamas, there is no clear end to Hezbollah's threat to the northern border on the horizon, so no-one knows if and when they'll be returning home.

Many homes, public buildings, and much civilian infrastructure has already been damaged or destroyed by Hezbollah's constant use of anti-tank missiles and rockets, and even close calls where people aren't hurt still mean as much as 300-500 million NIS in potential state compensation for all the destruction as of this moment, according to the Tax Authority.
