Smuggling into Israeli Prisons, Sim cards

Network Smuggling SIM Cards to Prisons Uncovered

A prisoner in central Israel was caught with a significant number of SIM cards in his cell. Additionally, a search of a related woman's home revealed more calling cards, a weapon, and funds. In a collaborative effort, the Israel Prisons Service (IPS) and Israel Police exposed a network smuggling calling cards and SIM cards into Israeli prisons.

The operation, which involved intelligence gathered over time from several prisons across Israel, was conducted jointly by the Beit Shemesh police station and IPS intelligence units.

During the operation, authorities conducted a search in the cell of a prisoner in central Israel suspected of distributing phone cards, where they discovered numerous such cards. Concurrently, a targeted search at the home of a Beit Shemesh woman linked to the prisoner uncovered additional calling cards, a pistol, cellular phones, and a substantial amount of money.

The case has been handed over to the Yahalom Unit and the Tax Authority for further investigation and management of its financial aspects.

The IPS stated: "The Prisons Service, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, remains committed to combating all attempts to introduce prohibited communication devices into prisons. This effort is crucial for maintaining order and security within the prisons and preventing ongoing criminal activities from inside."
