US 2024 elections: Harris faces historic low support among Jewish voters

A new poll reveals growing dissatisfaction among Jewish voters with the Democratic Party's handling of antisemitism and Israel, while fiscal moderation and concerns over crime rates push many toward the GOP.

A recent Manhattan Institute poll of a representative sample of 658 Jewish registered voters across the U.S. on their views concerning the upcoming presidential election revealed cracks in Jewish support for the Democratic Party.

Despite Jewish voters’ historical alignment with Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris is on track to perform worse than any Democratic presidential candidate since the Reagan era.

The survey highlights growing concerns among Jewish voters over rising antisemitism within the Democratic Party. Voters feel that Harris, in particular, struggles on issues like “security, Israel, and antisemitism” when compared to former President Donald Trump.

A large majority of Jewish voters remain staunch supporters of Israel, with only 5% saying they do not back the Jewish state. Many express discomfort with the Democratic Party’s tolerance of voices that label Israel in extreme terms, such as calling it "genocidal."

Jewish voters are also strongly pro-choice, with even Republican Jewish voters largely aligned with Democrats on abortion. However, their views on other issues—such as immigration and fiscal policy—are more moderate.

As a result, a significant majority of Jewish voters now say they are open to supporting Republican candidates, while around a third remain committed to backing only Democrats.
