Israel Fire and Rescue Commissioner restricts Lag Ba'Omer bonfires due to extreme weather conditions

Only sites prepared by local authorities and approved by the Fire Services can be used for the holiday.

Due to the danger of fires spreading in current "extreme" weather conditions, Israel's Fire and Rescue Services Commissioner signed an order banning bonfires, including for the Lag Ba'Omer holiday, except in specific, restricted conditions.

Per the conditions, only sites that have been prepared by the local authorities and approved by the Fire Services can be used.

Meanwhile, the traditional celebrations on Lag Ba'Omer on Mount Meron have been severely restricted under penalty of fines due to the danger presented by Hezbollah rockets and missiles.
