The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics published the population statistics of Israel on the eve of its 76th Independence Day. Per the numbers, Israel’s population stands at 9.9 million people. 7.247 million are Jews (73.2%), 2.089 million are Arabs (21.1%), and 564,000 of whom are classified as Others (5.7%).

The population has grown by 189,000 people since the last Independence Day, an increase of 1.9%. During this period, some 196,000 babies were born, some 37,000 immigrants came, and some 60,000 people died.

When the state was founded, there were about 806,000 residents, meaning that it has increased its population twelvefold since that time.

Over 3.4 million immigrants have come to Israel since the state was founded, some 1.6 million of whom (47.1%) came from 1990 onward.

Almost Half the Jews of the World Live in Israel

Based on the current rate of growth, the next Independence Day will see Israel having more than 10 million people in it, more than 11 million in 2030, more than 13 million in 2040, and more than 15 on its 100th Independence Day in 2048.

At the end of 2022, some 45% of the Jewish population lived in Israel, and some 80% of Jews who live in Israel are native-born “Sabras.”

The Israeli population is also a young one: some 28% are children aged 0-14 and some 12% are aged 65 and above.
