US President Joe Biden spoke today (Tuesday) at the Holocaust memorial service in Washington. Biden said: "This ancient hatred for the Jews did not begin in the Holocaust - it did not end in the Holocaust either, this hatred continues to lie deep in the hearts of too many people in the world and requires continuous vigilance."
"Now, we are here - not 75 years later, but only seven and a half months later - and people are already forgetting. They are already forgetting that Hamas unleashed this terror. I have not forgotten, and we will not forget," he added.
In his speech, Biden also referred to protests against Israel on campuses in the United States: "Too many people deny, minimize, and ignore the horrors of the Holocaust and October 7th, including the horrific use of sexual violence by Hamas to torture and terrorize. This is absolutely despicable - and it must stop."
Biden added: "My commitment to Israel's security is cast in iron, even when we disagree. We are working around the clock to free the abductees. We will not rest until we bring everyone home."
