Extremist Haredim Disrupt Recruitment Initiative Conference

Dozens of extremist Haredim arrived this evening at a conference aimed at advancing a tailored recruitment plan for young Haredim, disrupting and violently breaking up the event.

A group of several dozen extremists from the Tish community showed up at the conference organized by the reserve soldiers' movement "Bo'u" (Come), which promotes a recruitment plan suited for young Haredim, and caused chaos at the venue. The extremists clashed with the police, who were forced to evacuate the hall using force.

The conference was set to feature speakers from both the coalition and the opposition, including MK Matan Kahana from the National Camp and MK Dan Illouz from the Likud Party. Also expected to attend were Yossi Levy, CEO of Nitzach Yehuda, along with several public figures and Haredi rabbis who support recruitment.

In response to the disruption, MK Dan Illouz stated: "We will not be deterred by a group of extremists. It is time for genuine partnership between all sectors. It is possible. We are brothers, and if we stand together in this battle, no force in the world can harm us. Without the partnership of our Haredi brothers, unfortunately, we will not be able to face the significant challenges before us due to a shortage of soldiers. To my Haredi brothers, I say: condemn this small group and join in genuine partnership among all the people of Israel."

MK Matan Kahana also condemned the actions of the extremists who disrupted the event: "Tonight, I was supposed to attend a conference on Haredi recruitment. The conference was organized in collaboration between reserve soldiers and Haredim with the intention of discussing a plan that would lead to significant Haredi recruitment. Unfortunately, a small and violent group of extremist Haredim disrupted the conference and prevented its occurrence. We must not let extremists halt the necessary process of integrating our Haredi brothers into the security burden."

From the conference organizers, Tomer Wiener, Eli Dan, and Asheriel Machluf, it was stated: "We came here to put an end to the divisions and disagreements among us. These incited extremists will not break us or succeed in thwarting the initiative and undermining the unity of the people. We will not be deterred by anyone and will continue to work intensively towards advancing a joint recruitment plan with broad agreement, maintaining a dialogue with all segments of Israeli society."
