According to Barcelona police estimates, around 200 taxi drivers took part in a pro-Palestinian protest on Sunday, as the war in Israel entered its ninth month. The drivers waved Palestinian flags, drove around the city and honked while repeating the words "stop the genocide", as reported by Mako News.

At the beginning of the war, Spain's major cities became centers of pro-Palestinian protests. In Madrid thousands of demonstrators came out and called for the severing of ties with Israel, while the Spanish government also condemned Israel and recognized the independence of a Palestinian state, which led to an upheaval in diplomatic relations.

In the community of taxi drivers in Barcelona, there are many drivers of foreign origin, but also Catalonians: "This is not a political issue. Taxi drivers also mobilized regarding other issues, such as during the Corona virus or the war in Ukraine," says Munir Ahudi, a taxi driver in Barcelona. "The only thing we ask is for the conflict to end," added Noam Nadif, a member of the Taxi Friends association, who emphasizes that the intention is to demonstrate a collective position.
