In the realm of contemporary political discourse, few figures have garnered as much attention and controversy as Candace Owens. Known for her outspoken views on a range of issues, from social policies to international relations, Owens has recently made headlines once again—but this time, for a change of heart concerning Israel.
In March, Owens ended her relationship with the rightwing Daily Wire website amid tensions over her alleged antisemitism and opposition to US funding of Israel’s war in Gaza.
She has since gone on to continue her blatant antisemitic reports. As reported by The Guardian, she recently liked a social media post in which a user asked well-known Rabbi Shmuley Boteach if he was “drunk on Christian blood again”.
Owens claimed that she was being attacked because she did not believe “that American taxpayers should have to pay for Israel’s wars or the wars of any other country”.
In fact, Nick Fuentes, a Holocaust denier and white supremacist, praised Owens for mounting “a full-fledged war against the Jews.”
Just three days ago, in a 40 minute rant, Owens suggested that America is not a sovereign nation, but rather, it is being controlled by Israel. In the same conversation, she interviewed Briahna Joy Gray, who was recently fired from The Hill after 8 months of vicious anti-Israel commentary, saying, "We are seeing people that are having their entire livelihoods destroyed for critiquing a foreign nation - that is an absurdity - if you got something to say about Israel, you're going to be in big trouble, forget your first amendment. ... if you are not willing to support every action that Netanyahu does then the media will perpetuate you as an anti-semite who should lose everything."
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, she talks about the recent hostage rescue, saying that Israel used the US humanitarian pier during the rescue (a fact which has not been substantiated) adding, "When you applaud one hostage being returned and yet you know thousands of people who are similarly innocent were killed in the process, you have become a monster."
Candace Owens misrepresents facts, fails to acknowledge Israel’s security concern and constantly and continuously reinforcing Divisive Narratives. Her comments are exceptionally troubling, not only for their potential to promote antisemitic tropes but also for their oversimplification of complex geopolitical issues.
