An anonymous Jewish donor left a billion dollars to Bar-Ilan University for deep tech research, according to Globes.

This is one of the largest donations to an Israeli university, and unusually - this donation was left in cash, not as a fund, and is already in the hands of the university.

The money will be spent on research in the fields of energy, environment, health, engineering, bioconvergence, quantum computing, cyber, artificial intelligence, and more.

The university plans to recruit 70 leading researchers complete with labs and staff to this end.
