Due to the security situation in the country, the Israel Police informed the National Center for Holy Places that the Rachel Imeinu Celebration planned for the coming Wednesday and Thursday (10 and 11 Cheshvan) is cancelled.
The police statement, signed by commander of the Oz station, reads: “In light of the security situation and based on Rear Command instructions prohibiting assembly in open areas, a situational assessment was conducted by Jerusalem District Command, at the end of which it was decided not to approve the holding of the celebration.”
Security forces will deploy operationally to prevent entry into the grave area, and service lines to Rachel’s Tomb will be stopped at these times.
Special Broadcast from Rachel’s Tomb
The Holy Places Center added that it will conduct a special broadcasting day from within Rachel’s Tomb where the Chief Rabbis along with a series of other Rabbis and public figures will give words of encouragement and awakening. The next day, lectures will be held for women by Rabbaniyot and lecturers on the figure of Rachel Imeinu.
The National Center for Development of the Holy Places sought to stress that “no audience will be allowed to reach the grave site due to the instructions of the Israel Police and Rear Command due to the security situation, and that the public must diligently listen to the instructions of security forces.”
