A 13-year-old girl in Elad, Israel, passed away in her sleep just hours after being diagnosed with the flu at a local medical clinic.

Bluma Rosenberg visited a medical center at 8:00 PM Sunday evening complaining of fever and weakness. After examination, doctors diagnosed her with influenza and sent her home. The following morning, her family found she had not woken up.

Emergency services were called to the family's residence on Rambam Street, where paramedics from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom attempted prolonged resuscitation efforts but were ultimately unable to save her.

Local authorities have arranged grief counseling for Rosenberg's eighth-grade classmates. The funeral is scheduled to take place today at the Elad cemetery.

Rosenberg was the daughter of Yitzchak Rosenberg. Her mother was from the Schenk family of Netanya.

A full investigation into the cause of death is pending.
