Jerusalem police are investigating a deeply troubling case involving a Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) educator who allegedly sexually abused a student during a class examination, according to police reports released Thursday morning.
The suspect, a Jerusalem resident in his 40s who worked as a teacher at a religious educational institution, was arrested after welfare authorities alerted investigators at the Lev HaBira police station. According to testimonies collected, the alleged assault occurred during an exam, with other students present in the classroom.
Following initial investigation and evidence collection, police obtained an arrest warrant. The suspect was brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, where Judge ordered him held for six days until December 30.
"The police investigation is ongoing," a spokesperson said.
