An Arab man was filmed in East Jerusalem by security forces pulling on the sideburns of a Haredi passerby, spitting at him and cursing him for racist motives.

Lookouts from the Jerusalem District Control Center identified the suspect last night (Wednesday) and he was arrested.

With the assistance and guidance of the control center lookouts, the Shalem police station in the Jerusalem district quickly arrived at Sultan Suleiman Street and located the suspect within a few minutes, and he was arrested by them.

The suspect in his 20s was arrested by the police and transferred to the Shalem station for further interrogation. Today, the suspect will be brought to court for a hearing on a request to extend his detention.

The police stated: "The Israel Police views violence of any kind with great severity, and will continue to act with determination and zero tolerance against anyone who acts violently or bullying, and attacks others in the public sphere and everywhere else."
