Open Miracles

Unbelievable Hashgacha Pratis: 4 incredible 'open miracles' in Eretz Yisrael

As Elul draws to a close, Israel has witnessed a series of near-misses that have left many shaken, grateful, and contemplative.

As we approach the Yamim Noraim, Klal Yisrael has witnessed a series of events that can only be described as open miracles. From Ateret to Tel Aviv, from Highway 6 to Nahariya, the hand of Hashem has been clearly visible, protecting His children from harm in ways that defy natural explanation.

Even though it has been an exceptionally challenging year for the Jewish Nation, these are examples that we are never alone– We are constantly protected by Hashem, often not even being aware of the great danger we face.

Here are four modern-day nissim which occurred during Menachem Av and Elul (as recently as yesterday!) חסדי ד, כי לא תמנו- כי לא כלו רחמיו

Hevron (13th August / 9 Av)

Two militants were preparing a car bomb for an attack when it exploded for an unknown reason while they were nearby.  Both militants were injured, and there were no Israeli casualties in the incident.

Tel Aviv Bombing (18 August / 14 Av)

In Tel Aviv, where a bomb exploded on Sunday night, killing the suspected attacker and injuring a civilian who was passing by. CCTV footage showed a middle-aged man with a backpack moments before the blast on Lehi Street. Hamas claimed responsibility, calling it a "martyrdom operation" in cooperation with Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

"It was a miracle that it did not explode in the nearest synagogue or in the shopping centre. It could have ended in dozens of deaths," Ayalon District Police Commander Haim Bublil said on Monday, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Ateret's Narrow Escape (2nd September/ 29 Av)

On the 18th of Elul, residents of Ateret awoke to shocking news. A massive 49-kilogram car bomb had been planted near the yishuv's entrance, timed to detonate as the school bus passed by. Yet, through Hashem's infinite mercy, the plot was uncovered before a single child was harmed. Yisrael Ganz, the head of the Binyamin Regional Council, called it a "great miracle".

Highway 6: A Terrorist Plot Thwarted (9 September/ 6 Elul)

In a tense operation on Highway 6, security forces intercepted a terrorist en route to central Israel. Acting on intelligence and with support from a helicopter overhead, they shut down traffic in both directions and dramatically stopped a shuttle van carrying Palestinian workers, arresting the suspect before he could reach his target. Two accomplices were later apprehended, and a weapons cache seized.

Nahariya: A High-Rise Neis (9 September/ 6 Elul)

Sirens blared across northern Israel as a Hezbollah drone struck a 14-story apartment building in Nahariya. The projectile hit one of the upper floors, damaging two apartments. Yet not a single resident was harmed. As crews cleared debris and residents gathered in the street, the mood was a mix of shock and relief.

May these open nissim inspire us and may we merit to see the geulah we so desperately need.
